Luni Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 27, 2026
This policy covers the Luni app for iPhone and Mac. Luni is made by Pixdeo Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom (“Pixdeo”, “we”, “us”). If you have a question about your data, write to support @ pixdeo.com.
The short version
- Luni doesn’t need an account.
- The voice is generated on your device. Your documents and the text in them are never sent to us.
- Your library stays on your device, or in your own iCloud if you sync it. We can’t read either.
- We collect a few anonymous usage events and the purchase information needed to run Luni Pro.
- We never sell or rent your data.
Your documents
The PDFs, articles, ebooks and other text you add to Luni stay on your device. Luni turns them into speech on your device, so no text and no audio is sent to Pixdeo or to anyone else.
When you add an article from a web link, Luni downloads that page directly from the website that publishes it, the same way Safari would.
Your library and iCloud sync
Today Luni keeps your library, queue, reading progress and settings only on the device where you use it.
iCloud sync arrives with Luni for iPad and Mac. When it does, it will be on by default, and you can turn it off for each device in Luni’s Settings › iCloud Sync. With sync on, your library, queue, progress and the PDF and EPUB files you import sync through the private database of your own iCloud account, and your settings through iCloud’s key-value storage. Imported files count against your iCloud storage. The generated audio always stays on the device.
Luni has no server and no account, so Pixdeo has no access to anything you sync. Turning sync off on a device keeps that device’s library local and deletes nothing: what’s already in iCloud stays there and merges back if you turn sync on again. Apple’s privacy policy covers data stored in iCloud.
Usage statistics
To learn where people get stuck in Luni’s first-run screens, Luni sends a few anonymous events to Umami, an analytics tool we run on our own server. An event says, for example, that a screen was shown or a button was tapped, along with the app version, system version (iOS or macOS), device model, language and country.
These events don’t include your name, email, documents or anything you listen to, and they aren’t linked to your identity or used for advertising.
Purchases
Luni Pro is sold as a subscription through the App Store. Apple handles the payment, so we never see your card or billing details.
We use RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives an anonymous ID that Luni creates, your purchase history for Luni, your device’s country and its IP address, which it uses to work out prices and taxes. RevenueCat doesn’t receive your name or email from us.
You can manage or cancel your subscription in Settings under your name › Subscriptions on iPhone, or in the App Store app under your account › Subscriptions on Mac. Purchases are covered by Apple’s standard Terms of Use.
Tracking
Luni doesn’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites, doesn’t show ads and doesn’t use the advertising identifier.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Because Luni doesn’t use accounts, the data we hold can’t be linked to you by name. If you’d like us to delete your purchase records at RevenueCat, write to support @ pixdeo.com with the date of your purchase and we’ll take care of it. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Deleting Luni removes your documents and library from that device. To remove your synced library as well, delete Luni’s data in the Settings app under your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage.
Children
Luni isn’t aimed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Launch emails
If you left your email on the Luni website to hear about the launch, that’s covered by the website’s privacy policy.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
